antlerlad's commissions

Commissions are Currently: OPEN! (Sept 5 2022)

Hi! I'm Mads (they/them) and I'm a hobby artist. I've been drawing seriously since I was about 10 years old - so about 14 years! As of September 2022, I've just wrapped up my Master's degree in Gender & Social Justice and am seeking employment. Commissions (and tips) will supplement my income while I look for a real adult job. Please read everything thoroughly, INCLUDING AND ESPECIALLY my Terms of Service (TOS) before contacting me.

Will DrawWon't draw
canon charactersreal people and animals+
original characterscomplex mecha, furry, and monsters++
light gore/nsfwheavy gore/explicit nsfw
ship content (OC/OC, OC/canon, canon/canon)incest, pedophilia, and other gross stuff

.anything pertaining to NFTs, cryptocurrency, or the blockchain

+ Animal companions to characters are exceptions. This basically means "I probably can't draw a likeness of your real life pet."++ If you're not sure whether your character would be too complex under this clause, send me some refs and I'll let you know!

HOW THIS WORKS
Please read through my Terms of Service in full before contacting me for a commission.

1. Email me at [email protected] with the word "Commission" somewhere in your subject line. In your email, please include:

  • your NAME and PRONOUNS so I know how to refer to you :^)

  • what TYPE of commission you want (see Prices)

  • what sort of POSE and/or EXPRESSION you want your character to have

  • REFERENCES for your character (please see my TOS for more details on this)

2. Pricing and any surcharges will be negotiated. Please see Prices and TOS for more details.
3. Payment is required in full and up front.
4. Once payment is received, commission work will begin. I'll send a long a sketch to receive feedback from you.
5. Commission gets drawn! I will send along WIPs as I see fit. During this time, you are welcome to make MINOR changes and corrections to the piece.
6. Final piece will be sent via email.

terms of service

By ordering a commission from me, you are agreeing to these Terms of Service listed below. Please read them carefully.

General

I, the artist, reserve the right to refuse service to any client for any reason.
(If a refusal of service occurs, refunds will be issued based on how far along I am in the illustration process. See "Cancellations and Refunds" below.)
You, the client, understand that you will be receiving digital goods that will be emailed to you upon completion.
No contact information or payment details will be shared externally with anyone at any time.

Pricing and Payments

Payment is to be given upfront, before the commission work is started. I will not start working on your commission until I have received full payment.
I take CAD (Canadian dollars) and USD (United States dollars).
Payment can be done through a Stripe invoice, or Interac E-Transfer if you're in Canada. Stripe is a Paypal alternative. You don't need an account, just an email to send the invoice to and a card with which to pay the invoice.

All prices shown are minimums. Additional surcharges may occur depending on the complexity of your piece. Surcharges may include:

  • +60% for additional characters (if their designs are not especially complicated)

  • +$10 for Ghosts (Destiny franchise), possibly more if the shell is very complicated (like the Filigree of Light Shell or the Hardlink Shell)

  • very detailed markings, such as complex tattoos or patterns

  • animal wings or antlers/horns (simple horns, like tiefling horns or basic curled horns like a ram's don't count)

  • complex mechanical components, like a complicated prosthetic limb

  • complex weapons (if you just ask me to draw a random sword, that's cool, but a specific and complicated one like something out of Destiny will cost extra)

Process

I reserve the right to interpret the subject matter in my own style. This includes tweaking colours, markings, or other elements to suit my style. In no case will I make a character completely unrecognizable from their reference images. I am happy to keep certain details specific and accurate upon request. I reserve the right to decline any commission that I feel I will not be able to do justice to. (Example: if you send me reference images for an anthro character with a simple design, but it is an animal I have no experience drawing, I may not feel comfortable illustrating it and will decline.)I will send a cleaned sketch to the client after I am paid. At this point, clients are welcome to make any major edits they would like. In some cases, I may send multiple sketches. At this stage, please be specific with what you want to see from me. I want to make a piece of art you like, and I can't do so without specific instruction! If there's a specific size you want for your commission, such as 8.5x11in for a standard A4 print, please let me know! I typically draw on an 8.5x11in canvas, but I will happily make adjustments. After this, I will send you WIPs as things progress. I like to check in with clients at each stage of the commission (flat colours, shading, etc) to make sure I am doing things correctly. Minor edits here are ok. If you choose to make major edits after the sketch, I will charge $20/hr for every hour I spend working on those major edits.

Turnaround

Turnaround times can range from 1-4 weeks. If the commission will take longer than that (in a way I can anticipate), I will be sure to inform you as soon as possible. If the commission does take longer than 4 weeks to complete and you wish to cancel the commission, please see the following terms. If you have a hard deadline in mind, such as a birthday, please let me know at the start of the commission process! If this deadline is less than 7 days away from when you contact me, I will charge a 30% rush order fee.

Cancellations and Refunds

I, the artist, and you, the client, reserve the right to cancel a commission for any reason at any time. Depending on when you cancel a commission, you may be entitled to a refund.

  • Cancellation before work is started: 100% refund

  • Cancellation after sketch: 100% refund

  • Cancellation after colour is laid down: 50% refund

  • Cancellation after shading has begun: 30% refund

If a commission is cancelled for my own inability to complete it for reasons such as mental health strain, business, a health issue, or something else unexpected that falls under this umbrella, you will receive a 100% refund. (This does not apply if I choose to cancel a commission based on rude behaviour, poor communication, or bigotry [see below]).
Failure to adhere to my rules about what I will not draw, publicly harmful or bigoted content (racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, pedophilia, zoophilia, incest, and anything I deem harmful/bigoted not listed here), or any attempt to trick me into drawing something that goes against my rules, will result in the cancellation of your commission with no refund available.

Rights and Usage

  • I, the artist, retain full and exclusive rights to the original artwork. You may use the art for icons or make personal prints of it, but you may not redistribute/sell the art.

  • In that vein, you may post the art on your social media pages with credit to me, @antlerlad. I would prefer that you retweet/reblog/repost directly from my social media accounts, but you are still welcome to repost with credit.

  • I may display the commissioned artwork in my portfolio, social media pages or promotional materials (only for promotion of commissions). If you wish to keep the commission private, or to not be tagged/named in social media posts, please let me know and I will happily grant your request.

  • No commission, or any of my artworks, is permitted for NFT use, or any usage pertaining to cryptocurrency or the blockchain.
